Fun Times

I am really excited about my night tonight! Its Wednesday so Ill be having dinner at my parents house then going to church in Haughton. After that one of my best friends is coming over to my apartment and spending the night. Chelsea and I have been great friends since we were in the 8th grade. Not too long ago I found a picture of us, with me in braces and her with brown hair! Now she is married and soon to be moving to Japan with her marine husband. I am not one for sleepovers but definitley in need for some good girl time. She will be going with me in the morning to Lunch on the Street, the homeless gathering during lunch at Asian Gardens, so tonight we will be baking sweets for them. Honestly, I cant really cook but I am great at following directions! Cake bites are on the list for tomorrow and it should be fun trying not to burn my apartment down. Wish me luck!

  1. How did the sleep over go? I think it is great that you help with Lunch on the street. My family and I try to go to The Rescue Mission one night a month to help serve. We really should do more and probably will start. I don't now much about baking either but I have heard cake bites are extremely difficult!!! Hope it came out okay!!

  2. EC, the sleepover went great! We stayed up till 2am making our cake bites and yes they were pretty difficult to make! But everyone loved them. Serving others has really changed my heart and I think its great that you and your family go to the Rescue Mission. I helped out there on Thanksgiving feeding the homeless and I loved it. I realized that I have gotten attached to these people (the volunteers and homeless) because I only bake for those I love. Kind of cheesy but definitly the truth. I'm not much for a cook, sadly, so when I do, I try really hard and usually take pretty long. I am not going to do that for just anyone, like I said, only those I love I cook or bake for. The point of all that, is that when you serve more, you get so much more in return and slowly you can see God shaping and molding your heart into the one He wants you to be. I have been so blessed! I don't mean to preach, just had a great time with them today and it made my day! Have a great week!

  4. What Church do you go to in Haughton?
I've been trying to get my fraternity together to help serve at the rescue mission for awhile but some how the dates always fall through the cracks.
This gave me a little encouragement to try and make something stick!

  5. Michael, I go to First Baptist in Haughton. I know it's hard to get a group together to go and do one thing, so I definitely recommend that you try splitting them into groups and taking them that way. Also The Hub Ministry is a great organization to get involved with as well. You will truly be blessed!

  6. I love girl's nights! When you least expect it, you are in need of girl time, so I completely understand. I hope your sleep-over went well and you girls had a blast. It's always wonderful to connect with your best friend of years. Have a wonderful weekend.
