Weekend Blast
So this weekend should be interesting for me. I am a youth worker at my church, which means every time there is an event happening with the youth I automatically get signed up. They are a great group of kids/teens so I really don't mind helping out whenever I can. Anyways, this weekend is Weekend Blast; a retreat for the youth lasting from Friday until Sunday night. The students stay at all different houses, seperated by grade and gender, and have the entire weekend to really focus on God. I will be leading the 8th grade girls, which reminds me, I have a whole curriculum that I haven't even looked at...oops! I am usually with the 9th grade girls for any type of event, but I don't mind a change every now and then. It should be alot of fun and a little crazy; me, with about twelve 8th grade girls, and the power and presence of God!!!

This is good to hear. So many young girls today need a positive influence. Your desire to serve others is recognized and admired.
ReplyDeleteHey Catherine, I go to Brookwood here in Shreveport. I think it is awesome that you are doing so much with your church's youth. You will probably learn more than they will as teaching someone is the best way to learn!! Where and what is it that you guys are doing?
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, your doing a wonderful thing for the youth at your church. Hope you all have a great weekend. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the nice comments! They brightened my day!
ReplyDeleteEC, we have Weekend Blast in Haughton. The students all go to seperate houses, divided by gender and grade, and spend the majority of time with their small group and away from the others. Its a chance for them to be one on one with each other and a leader, and with few distractions. The leaders receive packets with the curriculum about a week before time and begin preparing their lessons. This year the theme was Saturate. It was completely about evangelism, which was great because I will be going into ministry after school with a specific focus on evangelism. The students learned that evangelism needs to be every Christians focus, to further the Kingdom of God, and they were given practical ways of how to do that. It was great!
